End of School Year Festivities

It's hard to believe that the 2009-2010 school year is history. It went SO fast! Our Awards Program was a nice time, with lots of family and friends present to congratulate the students on their achievements. The party theme this year was a fifties soda shop. Students served the guests while everyone visited checked out the latest edition of our school annual. The yearbook staff did an awesome job this year...talk about serious color! Here are a sample of the pictures we took that night...

Another school year in the books...

Random May 2010 Pics

May is always an incredibly busy month, but this year it seemed to be even busier than most! Grandma Yount and I share a birthday, and it happened to fall on Mother's Day weekend this year, so we were all able to be together. Friday night we celebrated with dinner at Skyline, followed by cheese cake bites for a late night snack, then continued the party on Saturday, when my sister took me for my first ever salon pedicure! Ahhhh! It was sort of cold and rainy, so after a little shopping we met back at mom's for an awesome hamloaf dinner (that stuff is to die for) and a Dairy Queen ice cream cake. Mother's Day was beautiful, with plenty of sunshine. The kids did some special things for their momma, which she really enjoyed...love the coupon books they made in Jr. Worship! If my memory serves me correctly, Greg grilled steaks and chicken for lunch, and we topped it off with two peanut butter pies that were given to dad and I for Teacher Appreciation Week. Thanks Pouzars! In case it sounds like we are really into food, we are... :)

Alli loves to find stray winter apparel...

Aubrey enjoys the cheesecake bites...

I won't tell you her age...we are 51 years apart...

Arms full of fun...

Aunt Donna, I hope you enjoyed these pics...I hurried just for you. :) Good to be with you last weekend!

Heaven Is Sweeter!

One never knows what a week will bring, but we never dreamed that today we would awake to phone calls regarding the death of our dear friend and role model, Dr. Ralph Woodworth. As the local talk radio station repeats the news every few minutes, my mind seems to be shocked again and again at the finality of the words...car accident...dead at the scene...wife in critical condition in Minnesota hospital...
Just last Sunday, the Woodworths were requesting prayer for their own children who were coming in for a visit and had car trouble in a southern state. They were so anxious to see their kids. That morning, our pastor spoke about the Comforter, using the text, "Lo, I am with you alway." Throughout the message, dad used personal stories of the comfort of the Holy Spirit at various times of grief, including at the death of his father, my grandfather. As I listened to his words that morning, I honestly wondered if there would be some tragedy this week that would make that message real to our hearts. Oddly enough, it has happened. I know that the Holy Spirit is comforting lots of grieving hearts from our congregation this morning. We loved Dr. Woodworth. He was a brilliant mind, second to none, and we gleaned every speck of wisdom we could up until his stroke last fall, after which he was unable to teach Sunday School or fill our pulpit.
An author, editor, teacher, avid outdoorsman, preacher, dad, grandfather, Dr. Woodworth was genuine and transparent. His sparkling eyes and ready smile were an encouragement to each of us. We rejoiced as he stood a few Wednesday evenings ago and gave a brief verbal testimony (a first since the stroke). We were looking forward to the day when he would be completely restored and we would once again be able to listen and learn from his teachings and life experiences.
Well, this morning he was completely restored, and he is in Heaven where I'm sure he is cheering us on. I can hear his chuckle as he tells some story about how he met the love of his life, or some crazy experience they shared during their many years of marriage. Those memories are priceless.
Thank you, Dr. Woodworth, for your influence on our lives and the lives of our children. You exemplified true Christlikeness, always smiling, never complaining, even when times were tough. You challenged us to study, expand our minds, and to know Christ by being well-acquainted with His Word. We will never forget your love for your family, and are so glad you were able to see all of them just this week. Although your trip to Minnesota didn't end up exactly as we had planned or would have wished, we know you are in a better place, where your mind and body are whole again, and you are able to worship the One you have waited your whole life to meet!
***Dr. Woodworth's wife, Erma, is in very serious condition with multiple physical issues as a result of the accident. Her life is hanging in the balance at this point. Please be in prayer for she and the Woodworth family.
