Lots of Happenings!

I haven't had time to blog in the last few days, but boy, things sure have been happening in the Burley/Nichols families!

Karson Brett was born to Mark and Jana on Friday evening, weighing in at 10lbs. 1oz.!
I think he is the biggest baby in Nate and Alberta's immediate family so far...even beating Uncle Greg, who according to his baby book, weighed 9lbs. 15oz.! Congrats Mark and Jana!

And....we are finally allowed to share the news that Valerie and Adam are expecting! Valerie is due on September 24, 2008. Baby and momma are doing well, and Aunt Stephanie is predicting that it's a girl - not that anyone cares about my predictions, but hey...it's worth a shot!

As far as I know, Megan and baby are doing well. We should be finding out whether it is a boy or girl (or one of each:)) shortly.

Never A Dull Moment...

I hope each of you had a great holiday weekend! Teachers love holidays :)! On Friday we left for Cincinnati to spend the night. We stopped at Grandma's house and took her to Germantown Pizza with us for dinner. Their spagetti and salad is awesome...not to mention the bread...mmmm! Craig was able to sit down and eat with us at the end of a busy evening. You can tell his customers love him. Thanks, Craig!
On Saturday we celebrated the impending arrival of Sarah Ann and Aaron's baby. The gender will be a surprise to them, so that always makes it even more fun. She is due Easter Sunday, but by the looks of things...!

After running all over town (and abroad) delivering "Singing Valentines" with my students, I am ready to relax for awhile! Compliments of my parents, who have generously offered to babysit 4 kids, Greg and I will be heading to Olive Garden following Good News Club. Yeah!

The Dreaded Day Approaches...

They say the Christmas rush is bad...they've obviously not experienced (thunder crashes, lightning flashes) "Valentine's Eve"...
As an adolescent and young adult, Valentine's Day was the coolest. You know, just a great chance to relax, eat chocolate, sniff roses, and read endless love notes from your sweetie. Fast forward a few years. By the time Valentine's Eve is over we are too tired to even write a love note!
After work/school today we found ourselves overloaded making valentine boxes (mental note: daddies don't have the patience for this *HA*), packing up treats, icing cupcakes, and getting all of the balloons and roses for the fundraiser. After a busy day, we attended our mid-week prayer service where Bro. and Sis. Southerland presented us with the need for a tent for our Antigua sister church. It was a fine presentation, and we were able to send them away with a generous offering.
Hopefully we'll have some time tomorrow to at least smell the roses! Um...maybe after school, a trip to the mechanic's shop for the van, Good News Club...hmmm.
Anyway, Happy Valentine's Eve!!!

Well, here I am finding it hard to believe that it is February 12th! Around Christmas I found myself longing for the "lazy" winter months of January and February, thinking life would slow down a bit. Well, it hasn't, mostly because we find it difficult to say no to opportunities that make life a little more exciting!

Valerie and Adam headed back to Cayman last weekend. This stretch is going to be a little longer for them, as they won't be home again until mid-June. Allison could easily be crawling by then -- sniff, sniff!
This week is Spirit Week at school, which means we look and act crazy for most of the week - I mean unusually crazy. :) Yesterday was Western Day, and as usual, the students went all out...braids, cowboy hats, fringe..etc. One tiny detail that I had overlooked was the fact of Hobe Sound reps coming to do a college and missions presentation, as well as taking us out for lunch. Needless to say, we incurred some rather strange looks at the pizza buffet!

Last Friday night(as I was trying to go to sleep), my mind kept wandering toward fundraisers...go figure. Within a couple seconds it hit me that we may do well with the "Singing Valentine". So, on Thursday, my students and I will be heading out and about delivering roses, balloons, homeade chocolates, and love notes! There is a lot of work to do between now and then, but we are looking forward to seeing the look of surprise/embarassment/appreciation *lol* from our recipients. I'll let you know how it goes! We are very close to having the necessary funds for student convention, so hopefully we won't have to put too much more effort into that part of it.

I am at the halfway point in my current grad class. Studying about the complex issues of adolescence is quite the experience...based on the age of my eldest child, I'll get to experience all the wonders of this stage very shortly! Hmmm...
Allison will be 3 months tomorrow. It is hard to believe that time has flown so quickly! The jury is still out on her eye/hair color, and there is some confusion as to which of her siblings she most resembles. :) She is quite the little cheese ball, with chubby cheeks and a ready smile. Last week we heard her giggle for the
1st time. She hasn't rolled over yet...she's, eh hum, a little too spoiled to even lay down for a few minutes!

By the way, is anyone sick of politics? Wow - if I weren't hopelessly addicted to Fox News, I would be tempted to avoid the whole thing until November! As I said before, I hadn't totally fallen in love with a candidate, so the only disappointment I've really had so far is that we weren't able to come up with someone more charactered, capable, and conservative that the few who were/are running! Things could still get a whole lot more interesting, so I'll patiently wait for a miracle.

The next major event on the calendar will be the birth of another Burley baby...we are anxiously awaiting news from Mark and Jana!
