Fun Summer Weekend...

Friday, July 13, was my aunt Carol Brown's 60th birthday. At about 4 in the afternoon Adam and Valerie rode down with us to Circleville, OH where her husband had planned a wonderful surprise party for her. It was a hit! They had an awesome menu (hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst, chips, potato salad, grilled corn on the cob, grilled seasoned red potatoes, marinated cucumbers, juicy garden tomatoes, and a whole lot more) and the pool kept everyone cool.

After arriving home at about 2 a.m. Saturday, we slept in. By 12 p.m. we were making our way to Main St. in Cridersville (it's only about 2 blocks) to get our seats for the parade. This is Fireman's Jambouree weekend, and boy, is this little town hoppin'! The parade was fantastic with tons of candy for the little ones. After the parade we checked out the homeade birdhouses up for silent auction, then took the kids to the back of the firehouse for carnival rides. Mama was generous and bought the kids unlimited ride bracelets. Ryan almost passed out on the "wildest" ride, and it put him out of commission for a little while. Fortunately, he seems ok. Those things scare me! Some of the little rides are worse on the head than a roller coaster. Anyway, we spent a great deal of today down there and enjoyed a great time. Greg and the boys just arrived home from the last event, a pyrotechnics laser light show. Hopefully enough money was raised to keep our little volunteer fire dept. running smoothly this year!

We live on the street where the village guys do most of their work. This truck is a familiar sight out my front window...they pass by frequently, and Ryan and Evan always have to tell me the guys names.

The Village council members cruise the parade in golf carts. Greg hopes to have his name on the ballot in November...we'll see!

It was a great day, with lots of sunburn. Now all are appropriately coated with aloe ointment, and off to bed. I trust everyone has a wonderful Lord's Day tomorrow!

You Never Know What A Day Will Bring...

I was saddened to read on the Midwest PHC website that one of our 2007 youth campers, Josh Henson (13) collapsed and died today. His parents assisted in the kitchen and they are such a sweet family. Cause of death is being determined, but in the meantime, I'm sure the family as well as the Shiloh PHC in Corydon, IN are devastated. Two years ago, we had a situation right after PYC where one of our campers, another 13-year-old, was accidentally and fatally shot. It is difficult to understand the providence of God in situations such as these, but we must depend on His mercy and grace to sustain. Our prayers are with the Hensons. My World This Week

It has been awhile since I've updated everyone as to this pregnancy! I had a dr. appt. this a.m., and my father generously took the kids for me. Believe it or not, he took them to the mall...one brave papa! I've tried to call him, but for some reason I keep getting voice mail, so after my appt. I headed downtown to the meeting place to do a little blogging and have lunch. By the way, their Tomato Bisque soup rocks! Anyway, I am 21 weeks along, and this child is amazingly active. Kicks me to sleep and kicks me awake! I am in the 4th week of another class, and things are going well. Fortunately, I have never had a pukey pregnancy. Mild nausea and lack of energy have been my biggest problems, so there are no complaints here! Baby is doing well, and I put off my ultrasound until the 1st week of August so the rest of the family can go with me. We aren't going to find out the sex, so it'll just be pretty routine.

Father's Day 2007 - Although I didn't make a special Father's Day post, I have to say my children have the best dad in the world! Most people are amazed when they see all the time Greg spends taking care of the kids...they don't even know the half of how he can do housework! I am a very blessed woman, and I know it.

Yount Baby Update!!

I am so sorry that I forgot to post about the births of some very special little boys in the month of June! Jeffrey and Krystal (McCall) Yount were blessed with identical twin boys, Graham and Grant on June 15th. If I remember correctly, their weights totaled 13 lbs.! Good job, Krystal! Grant and Graham join Becca (2) and Jay (1)at home. I think any mom would draw a sharp breath at the sight of these babies ages (4 under 3), but as a compliment to Jeff and Krystal, I do not know of two people more capable of raising these kids well. Although it will take an unbelievable amount of patience, their personalities, sincere love for God, and love for their children will prevail! Congratulations Jeff and Krystal!

Daryl and Mandy Yount were blessed with another girl, Sophia Catherine, on July 9th, 2007. Sophia joins Brayden (3) and Savannah (1) at home. Congratulations Daryl and Mandy! We can't wait to see all of the new additions!

At this point, I believe Jennifer (Yount) Driggers and I are the only ones expecting in the Yount brood. It is almost a given, though, that someone else is, we just don't know it yet!
