When they say, "You never know what a day will bring...", boy, you know they are right! As I mentioned last post, our weekend plans were changed because of the snowstorm. I had this week's plans all arranged because of beginning student convention early Tuesday morning. Kaitlynn and Allison were to go with us, and we had coverage at home for the boys. Mom and Dad were to travel to convention with us, and planned to help with the girls. They were going to head to Cincy on Wed. night, and fly to Cayman on Thurs.
Life is unpredictable. On Sunday morning one of our parishoners, Bro. Don Snyder, went to Heaven. Because of this tragedy, 3 of our students (his grandchildren) were unable to attend convention with us. We miss them terribly, and are praying for them in this time of sadness.
Tuesday morning, 1 hr. before the alarm went off, something else woke us. The sound of Kaitlynn barfing in her bedroom. Ugh! We did some quick work. Mom stayed home because of the funeral arrangements, so she kept the boys instead of someone else having to come stay with them. Dad and I brought the group to Muncie, while Kaitlynn and Greg (he had a fever, headache, etc.) spent the morning and afternoon at home recovering. They were able to join us about 5:00 in the evening. Kaitlynn seemed fine after that, and had a wonderful day yesterday. This morning, just before the alarm was to go off, we heard another noise. You guessed it. She spent all morning in the bathroom. So here I am, sitting in the hotel blogging while my students are at Ball State competing in ping pong! I have to add that they took 2nd in PACE Bowl this a.m. Yea!
Anyway, we have no idea what the rest of the week holds...we're not even guessing. Hopefully Kaitlynn and I will be able to attend the rally tonight. The speaker is awesome, and I hate to miss his closing challenge. Tomorrow we may watch the volleyball and basketball championship, then attend awards, then head home. Mom and dad, after much insanity, were able to get new flights to Cayman. They are scheduled to leave Saturday. By the way, hope you never have to cancel a flight. It is outrageously expensive...flight insurance doesn't help!
I heard from mom around noon today. Ryan hasn't gone to school all week...the only thing keeping his fever down is Motrin. She doesn't think anything else is wrong, and for 3 or 4 hours after the Motrin he is buzzing high. Then he crashes somewhere in a corner, and you know it's almost time for the Motrin again! Poor kid.
We have enjoyed our time at convention so far. It has been great to see a host of our youth camp kids, as well as Robert Carter, Lorna, Janelle, and Jaren Miles, Lanae Marshall, the Everhearts, the Clemens, the Joslins, on and on...
Enjoy the pics!
