Kaitlynn's 10th Birthday...March 15, 2014
So, we're slightly late in updating the blog. Better late than never, I figure. I can't tell you how many times I've referred to old blog posts to check facts or reference an old photo, so I want to keep the important things posted.
On March 15th, Kaitlynn turned double digits. Yup, that's pretty big stuff. :-) She wanted a "Frozen" party, and rather than making it look cartoonish, we picked up some other ideas. Kinda helped that there were actually remnants from the snowstorm still on the ground in mid-March.
I can't believe it's been 10 years since they handed me a tiny little baby and told me it was a girl. It was a wonderful surprise, and I'm glad we did it the old fashioned way and waited till she was born to find out. Totally surreal. Love you, Kaitlynn Ann!

Making a wish...

February Fun Continues...
Most of us think Valentine's Day when we think February, and for those of us who have school age children, we often think Valentine's boxes. This year Kaitlynn wanted an owl and Allison wanted to decorate a pre-cut box. They were both happy with their results!
The snow continues, and we are getting a bit of spring fever, yet we realize that this wonderland won't last forever. This has been a crazy awesome winter!
My classroom enjoyed a field trip to the Airstream factory in Jackson Center, OH. I scheduled it on Allison's day off, and my parents were able to come along since they had a pastoral visit to make in that area.
I had to see the ortho doc for a checkup this month. Hard to believe it has been 9 months since the fracture! Doc says my breaks are healed, and unless the plate and screws give me trouble, they'll stay in for good. I can tell that I still have a ways to go with strengthening and range, but I've managed to stay upright so far this winter and I have more endurance than I thought would be possible.
Last week was Spirit Week at school. I have a bunch of photos, but this is one of my favorites.

Weekend Fun
January 2014 is past. It was a wonderful month! I don't think we've had this many snow days in one month since my first year of teaching, 16 winters ago. That was before kids, and I'm not sure what I did on all those days home alone! Now our snow days are filled with activity...even if we stay in our pjs. :-)
On Friday night, Greg and I were able to have a night out. Part of my Christmas gift was two tickets to the Cathedral Reunion concert, and we had fun listening to the songs that were popular when we were teenagers (which is a lot longer ago than either of us care to admit!). Thanks, Mom, for the tickets and the babysitting!
On Saturday, we drove the 90 minutes down to Franklin, OH, where my sister and her family live. We had planned a birthday gathering the week before, but the weather shut things down and it had to be postponed. It was crazy that by the time we reached Dayton it was 50 degrees! Seemed like it was time to break out the flip flops and lemonade!
Evan and Annie both celebrated birthdays in January, and Adam and Valerie's are both in February. So...we scattered candles all over a cake and had a party. :-) This picture cracks me up. Suzanna loves cake, and she'll always be found right near it (probably waiting for a chance to dip her finger in the icing). It's predictable and adorable. Apparently, Annie didn't want her picture taken. She'll probably get a kick out of seeing this.
And that is how January ended and February began!
