This year's Christmas was one of total relaxation! Christmas traditions are difficult for us, simply because it seems we are never in the same place from year to year. This year we were able to stay home! Valerie and Adam came home almost two weeks before Christmas, and Eric and Meg came in a day early because her family Christmas was postponed due to bad weather. They made it through Chicago's nasty snowstorm, and reached Lima on Christmas Eve. Christmas afternoon, Greg and I and the kids loaded the van with gifts and traveled the 10 minutes to mom and dad's place. We had brunch together, then read the Christmas story and opened gifts. The boys were thrilled to get their first bow...Kaitlynn was quite pleased with her Easy Bake Oven, among a multitude of other gifts!
The rest of Christmas Day was spent relaxing and enjoying good food and fun. On Friday, Greg and I went shopping while the others slept in. We had fun together! Grandma Yount left that afternoon. We hated to see her go, but she had other guests coming in.
That evening we continued a tradition of piling into a 15 passenger van to view Christmas lights in a nearby town. This is the first year we have actually had 15 passengers, and with 4 car seats, it was a little tight! The "tightness" provided us with lots of laughs, and and evening we will remember for years to come.
Although we returned home quite late that night, Adam, Valerie, Megan, and I decided to play "a" game of Dutch Blitz. 40 rounds later, at 5:30 a.m., we decided to call it quits!
Saturday morning, after catching a couple hours of sleep, we said goodbye to Eric, Megan, Olivia, and Suzanna. They had to get back to cover their church responsibilities on Sunday.
Thanks, mom and dad, for hosting a wonderful Christmas celebration on Bunker Drive! The meals and accomodations were A+!
